Better not to. Use separate cells for each amount, eg put the multiple
amounts in A1, A2, A3, etc. Then put this in B1: =SUM(A:A) to compute the
total of all the amounts. Any good? hit the YES below.

In the cell, type =55+100 then format the cell to $ with two decimal point.
"=" tell the Excel to calculate.

However, I agree with Max's reply, it is the wise way to use the formula to
calculate in Excel.
