I'm trying to format a spreadsheet so past dates in column F appear in red.
column E column F [Date] entered Date+30 I've added this formula to the second column: =IF(E3+30<=TODAY(),[Red](E3+30),(E3+30)) but it's not working. I've fiddled with the formula to the point where all results appear in red, but I can't manage to get the column to do what I want. I've tried to use conditional formatting but again, it makes all results appear in red. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Mary |

You can't do formatting with a formula like that.
You need to use conditional formatting, and you didn't tell us what CF condition you tried to apply. [Please don't make us guess!!] CF/ Formula is/ =E3+30<=TODAY() or (if F3 has the formula =E3+30 CF/ Cell value is/ less than or equals/ =TODAY() -- David Biddulph "KidA" wrote in message ... KidA,
This is what my solution looks like: Column E Column F 9/11/2009 10/11/2009 (in Red) 10/13/2009 11/12/2009 (in Red) 11/12/2009 12/12/2009 11/13/2009 12/13/2009 Formulas E2 F2 [Date] Entered =IF(E2="","",(E2+30)) Formula explaination: If cell E2 is empty, then cell F2 is empty, otherwise take E2 and add thirty days. Coditional Formating of Cell F2: Condition 1 Cell Value Is less than or equal to =TODAY() Select Format button, select Font tab and Color: select "RED" Once this is done on the first cell, select that cell (E3 in your example) and select copy and paste the length of the column you need. hth "KidA" wrote: I'm trying to format a spreadsheet so past dates in column F appear in red. column E column F [Date] entered Date+30 I've added this formula to the second column: =IF(E3+30<=TODAY(),[Red](E3+30),(E3+30)) but it's not working. FloMM2 -- That's awesome, just wonderful. I have to think about WHY it
works, but for now I'm just glad it works. Thank you! - Mary "FloMM2" wrote: KidA, This is what my solution looks like: Column E Column F 9/11/2009 10/11/2009 (in Red) 10/13/2009 11/12/2009 (in Red) 11/12/2009 12/12/2009 11/13/2009 12/13/2009 Formulas E2 F2 [Date] Entered =IF(E2="","",(E2+30)) Formula explaination: If cell E2 is empty, then cell F2 is empty, otherwise take E2 and add thirty days.
