Default how to customize the 'look in' list that appears with 'file open'

I had a 'favorites' icon on the 'look in' list that is at the left side of
the 'file open' box. I inadvertently removed it and desperately want it
back. But, alas, I can't find anywhere how you manage the 'look in' list.
HELP!

Use File / Open, navigate to your Favorites folder and select it but do no open it. Then use Tools
from the file open dialog, and choose "Add to "My Places""
