Default Need help with another formula

=SUM(A7-12500)
A7 $13641.23

=SUM(A6-15998)
A6 $15992.49

both formula's are backwards in reference to their answer's. A6 is coming up
negative and A7 is positive.

What am i doing wrong?

Remove "SUM" - =A7-12500

A7 is bigger than 12500, so the result will be positive.

155998 is bigger than A6, so the result will be negative.

Maybe you want
=12500-a7
and
=15998-a6

?????

Hi,

A better formula is

=A7-12500
and similar for the other one. Now if A7 contains $13641.23 why do you
think it should return anyting other than a positive answer?

Mike

Then =12500-A7 is what you should be doing.
