Default Vlookup problem

I have an xltm template used for invoicing. I have 2 combo boxes attached to
different colunms of customer details with a linked cell in each of them. I
have 2 totally separate Vlookup functions that autofill a cell based on the
combo box selection. I had some formatting issues but now the vlookups work
fine, until, I open a fresh workbook from the template with no data in any
field. When I select either of the combo boxes I make a selection but the
vlookup does not autofill. Cell is left blanlk. But when I select the second
combo box this vlookup autofills as it should and the first one also
autofills. From that point on everthing works fine. Doesnt matter which combo
box I try first, no result unbtil I 'energise' the second one. Problem is I
want to use as a template and open fresh each time so problem is always there.
Each of the 2 combo boxes use a diferent linked cell and data. Nothing is
common to both. Is there something in the combo box properties I have missed??
Why does nothing happen until I use the second function?
