VB

cursor is stuck

Occasionally when I am working in a spreadsheet (Excel 2007), the cursor
becomes "stuck" and when I try to click on another cell, the result is to
highlight a range of cells with the "stuck" cell being the anchor of the
range. Clicking on other cells around the anchor cell changes the range, but
does not resolve the problem. This has happened several times, but I cannot
identify what I'm doing to cause the problem. I usually wind up pressing
random keys until the problem is resolved. (I don't use a mouse -- only the
touchpad on my laptop, so there's no scroll button to stick).

next time it happens, try tapping the F8 key. this is the extend range mode.

Instead of pressing keys randomly, you can press a single button that is ESC.
Because, as per €śFST1€ť post this can happen if the cursor is in Extend mode,
so you can get out of this by hitting ESC also€¦.
