I'm perplexed how Excel treats links in the following scenario. I think I
can best explain it via a simple example, so please bear with me.

Source File cell A1 = 10
Destination File 1 cell A1 links to the Source File's Cell A1

Source File cell A1 = 11 (assume value has changed so source file has been
updated)
Destination File 2 cell A1 links to the Source File's Cell A1

When I save Destination File 1, it has in A1 the value of 10.
When I save Destination File 2, it has in A1 the updated value of 11.

If I open either file separately, I see the expected values as I saved them.
So far, all is well. However, if I open both Destination File 1 and
Destination File 2 to compare revisions, Destination File 1 cell A1 changes
from its original value of 10 to that of Destination File 2's value of 11.
This makes it rather difficult to compare revisions--particularly when there
are numerous links and subsequent calculations.

Am I missing a setting? Is this an intended design?

I'm running Excel 2007, but my co-worker running 2003 gets the same results.
