Default Format a Cell

Hi,

You would need a macro to do it in the same column but to do it in a helper
column use the formula below and drag down. You can hide the original column.
If you want a macro, post back.

=LEFT(A1,8)

I have a cell that contains information such as 12548569 Idaho Florida. The
only thing I want to show is the first 8 characters of the data in that cell.
What formula can I add to only show the first 8 characters so that I do not
have to go into each cell and remove the state information?
