Default How can I make a format to follow the cell

A1 contains 5 with red background.
If I type in another cell, "=A1" then how can I force the new cell to show
the 5 in red background?

A formula can only return a result, not a format.

If that red background is the result of conditional formatting,
however, you can apply the same CF rules to the destination cell to
get the same effect.

Hope this helps.
