Default Need to set up a number based on date entered

I am trying to set up a spreadsheet for our Bingo organization. I need the
sheet to automatically plug in a recurring session number when I put the date
in.

Example: Date 7/23/09
Session 1

Date 7/25/09
Session 2

Is this possible?
Thanks

What determines whether it is Session 1 or 2.....

i.e. what can you test for to determine the session number?
