Default Errors when copying from Excel to Excel

When copying part of a spreadsheet from one window into another, we have been
getting an error and then the window you are copying TO shuts down. When I
clicked on "Technical Information" it says:

Error Signature
AppName: excel.exe
ModVer: 10.0.6854.0
AppVer: 10.0.6854.0
Offset: 000e58a3
ModName: excel.ext

Our IT guys told us that we needed to change our formulas, but didn't offer
up any additional information about how to go about changing them, and
basically told us it was our problem.

Does anyone know what would cause this error?
