Default Excel 2003 memory usage

Hello all,

I have a workbook in Excel 2003 that consist of 12 tabs. We use this
workbook as a template for each project and the template is saved as a new
file for each project.

Seven of the tabs are static meaning there are no calculations other than
sum's and no functions. The other 5 tabs have varying degrees of
calculations and functions. One of the 7 tabs has 5 graphs.

I originally started out with a file size of 2 mb and the file size has
grown as we added the graphs and other tabs. Currently there are 4 versions
of the workbook with file size ranging from 12 mb to 16 mb and that is before
we even add data.

As noted we have added things to the workbook, changed the format of tabs
and cells, and even removed tabs or items from some of the tabs. My
understanding is that Excel files will continually get larger as you make
changes. We are at the point where the workbook size is getting too
cumbersome for us as well as our branches.

I have tried copying tabs and moving tabs to a new workbook with no luck on
getting the file size smaller. I hate to think I need to re-invent the
wheel, start a new workbook, and manually set up each tab to be similar to
the current workbook.

Any suggestions

Thanks

Default Excel 2003 memory usage

Let me add that I have gone through and use CTRL-G to clean up rows and
columns. I have also found Named Ranges that were no longer used. This has
now bumped me down to 11.3 MB from 12 MB.
