I keep getting this due to formatting not supported in previous versions in
one cell, but I can't figure out what the difference is. I used format
painter from a different cell, but I still get it. Excel "Help" says
something about a fix button, but I can't find that. I even copied this one
cell to a separate spreadsheet, but I haven't been able to determine what is
causing the MLoF.

If someone can help me save what's left of my sanity, I'd be forever grateful.

We can guess what the problem is, but to save everyone's time, including
yours, post the specifics. What format are you using, what's the resulting
display, and what would you like instead.

All that's in the cell is a formula (=IF(AND($C$13="N",$C$15 = "L",$C$19 =
"Y"),35,"N/A")), and the cell itself is Arial 10 Text 1 font with a number
format of $#,##0.00, Horizontal Ctr, Bottom Aligned, No borders, No shading &
it's locked.

That's what comes up when you select the cell & click the arrow next to cell
styles & New cell style in the Home ribbon.

I copied the formula from above, pasted it into a different cell, formatted
the cell as Arial 10, the number as currency, 2 decimal places, $ as the
symbol & the top selection for a negative number, centered it in the cell,
saved it & there was still just the one MLoF. Then I deleted the original
cell, cut & pasted the newly created formula into the original spot, saved it
& still got the MLoF.

I don't get what part is causing the MLoF, because even when I delete
everything in the workbook except that one cell, it still happens.

The resulting display is fine. It will either be N/A or $35.00, if they use
the service. I use the same formats in the other 8 cells that calculate
charges, and none of them are resulting in MLoF.

It took me a while to figure out that "MLoF" means "minor loss of fidelity".
So what "loss of fidelity" are you experiencing? You say "the resulting
display is fine", so that's not it. But what is the problem you are
experiencing?

Sorry, I probably should have been more specific. I don't see any difference
in output at all. I've created a spreadsheet that gives the user an estimate
of charges & postage for a mailing based on certain specifications which the
user can change to see how it impacts the price. Whenever I save as Excel
97-2003, I get this MLoF error, and I need to eliminate it so it doesn't
appear whenever the user tries to save their copy.

Excel is telling you that you are using a feature in 2007 which is not
supported in earlier versions. Your choices a

1. Remove the offending feature (the dialogue box tells you what it is)
2. If both you and the user have XL2007, then save the file in xlsx format.
3. Turn off the compatibility checking (clear the checkbox on the save
dialogue, or use OfficePrepareRun Compatibility Checkerclear checkbox

I finally figured it out this weekend. I thought it was the cell with the
formula in it, but it was an empty cell in the same row. When I deleted a
bunch of cells to the right of the one with the formula, I didn't get the
MLoF when I saved it.
