Default CompatMode 0

I have to use 97-03 file format within my office environment but am sick of
the stupid dialog boxes that keep resulting. In Word, I found an example of
forcing this mode on by turning a new Regedit DWORD option variable for
CompatMode to "1".

The question is whether setting this to "0" would turn this off in Excel
while still allowing me to use the "xls" format.

I know a lot of people are bugged by this issue.

Thanks!
