I have excel 2002 - on a worksheet that come in Excel 2003, if I try to go to
page setup, I remove the header and footer and attempt to save, I get an
error that says unable to save, and creates an error report

Are there any macros in the file?
What does the error message say & look like?
(eg does it look like it is an inbuilt Excel message or a customised
message from the file creator)

If there are macros in the file & it looks like a customised message,
this may be an intentional technique of the file creator to try & ensure
auditability of printed copies.

Are you trying to change the name of the file when you save (ie Save
As)?
If so, are you using any "illegal characters", eg "/", in the file
name?
