Excel Files Open Read-Only

I'm operating Excel 2007 under WinXP in a corporate environment. My PCs were
recently rebuilt by my corporate IT department. Now, whenever I open an Excel
file from Outlook or a shared served environment, it opens Read-Only. Excel
files saved on my PC open R/W.

This is a significant pain. What's causing this and how do I resolve?

Hi,
talk with the owner of the spreadsheet, they need to give you access, likely
the spreadsheet are sent as read only, the owner and the authorized people
are the only one to modify it

Thanks, Eduardo, but I don't think that's the problem. This problem has only
begun in the last week or so, and may have started after my PC was reimaged.
I think it's some default setting in WinXP, Office or my security programs,
but I can't track it down. It also occurs when I open Office documents on
shared servers. These have never opened Read Only before.

Before your pc was re-imaged, were the spreadsheet files backed-up onto a CD,
then re-loaded?

Sounds like a permissions issue on the servers. As in your profile is
set to Read-Only.
