Default format phone numbers with an 800

Hello I have a column formatted as phone number using format-cells-
special-phone number. the problem is if the phone number is an 800 number
the formatting is not right. for example is the number is 800-212-543-6543
it gives me (800212) 543-6543 if the number does not have the 800 then is
correct.

How can I format the same cell so if there is an 800 number to read 800-
123 -123- 1234 or if there is no 800 to read 123- 123 -1234 thanks in
advance

HUH?!?!? What country are you in? The formatting of your phone numbers
suggests you are in USA/Canada.

800 numbers in USA/Canada essentially have an area code of 800, 866, 877,
888, etc...

Valid 800 numbers...and other phone numbers:
(800) 212-6543...or...800-212-6543
(800) 543-6543...or...800-543-6543
(212) 543-6543...or...212-543-6543

Invalid phone number:
800-212-543-5643

Is there an extention included?...ext. 643?

Conan Kelly
