Default Can I change the appearance of Selected active cells in Excel 2007

The border around highlighted/selected cells is quite thick but the
background colour is barely visible compared to to older versions.
Is there a way to change the default colour on this?
I have been looking through all options and couldn't find anything.
Many thanks for any input.
