Default Macro buttons opening saved macro

In Excel 2003 you could create custom buttons and assign a macro to them.
When you needed to use your macro you would just click on your macro button
and it would open your file with the saved macro and run it. Is there a way
to do this in Excel 2007? So far I have been unable to run a macro from a
button without first going out and opening the macro file manually first.

Thanks,
Jim
