Default Ctrl Home disabled in protected worksheets

I have created a workbook with a number of worksheets, each of which has a
number of locked cells and for which protection is enabled to prevent users
from accessing locked cells. The top row, with the column headings, is
protected.

I have noticed that the control + home function to go to cell A1 seems to be
disabled. How can I re-enable it? (I am running Excel 2003).

When you protect the workbook, are you allowing users to select locked cells?
This would need to be enabled for Ctrl+Home to work, since A1 is locked.

No, I don't want the users to be able to select locked cells.

I did, however, try unlocking just cell A1, and it still didn't unlock. I
would appreciate any other suggestions you might have. Thanks!

You may have misunderstood Luke's suggestion - by allowing users to select
locked cells doesn't mean they can change the content (as it's locked!), but
it will allow the user to place the cursor in the cell.
The other posible reason that Ctrl+Home will not work:- do you have 'freeze
pane' applied to your worksheet?

You are right, Ron; I did misunderstand. I didn't realize that a locked cell
prevents users from changing the contents, but having just run a quick test I
see that you are of course right. Problem solved!

Thanks, Luke and Ron, for your help!
