Default Filling a cell with "-"

I want a cell to contain all "-" (hyphens) no matter how wide the column is.
So if I make it wider or narrower, there will be a line of hyphens. Thanks
for any help on this.

Default Filling a cell with "-"

Type
-
Into a cell.
You'll have to either preformat the cell as text or start with a leading
apostrophe:
'-

Then Format|cells|Alignment tab|Horizontal Text Alignment|choose Fill
(xl2003 menus)
