Hi Gord,
I just picked up on this entry for excel and thought it would help me too, but on viewing the question it appears not to be the case. My problem is that earlier this morning i decided to take a break away from the PC and during the time I was away, MS had completed an update and switched down the PC. Just before this I was working on two documents that had a substantial amount of data in them and, because they were new documents I had not even named them. Can these be retrieved like word documents, by using one of the temporary store points? I opened excel and it does not react the same as word by showing you the dialog box on the left with the files that had not been closed, so I am not sure how to recover these. Tried search *xls to find all files created over the last week and, it does not show up there. Can i recover them from somewhere else? Thanks in advance for your help. Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar 1) StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK. 2) StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK. See the space between exe and /regserver You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe. In that case StartRun "C:\yourpath\excel.exe" /regserver(quotes required)OK. Everything seemed ok and normal once I debugged the computer but I recently noticed that about 12 spreadsheets in my computer have been lost. These are all the same title, just different dated versions. I still see them as saved in the files, but when I try to open them I get the following message- "FILE NAME" cannot be found. Check the spelling of the name of the file, and verify that the file location is correct. Nothing has changed and it wasn't saved elsewhere. How can I gain access to these files? |
