Is it possible to customize Excel so that the name of the spreadsheet always

Yes.
But the solution depends on the version of excel. In xl2002+, you can specify the worksheet name or workbook name (path or path and file name) in the File|page setup|header and footer tab (custom buttons). In xl2k and earlier, you'd need a macro. But that would depend on what you mean by "name of spreadsheet". Worksheet name or filename or what.
