I have a file that is pulling information from several large files via
vlookups and hlookups. I've already broken all of the links of the larger files and I've tried using shift-F9 to calculate and then save without recalculating. The file isn't huge (about 2MB) but it still won't save! Is there something I can do? This file is critical for a forecast tool I'm developing and if anything I'd like to add to it. -- Andrea |

I don't receive an error message - the file just times out and a dialogue box
pops up with "Document not saved". I feel it may have something to do with the fact that I am pulling information by formula from several large files but I'm not sure. -- Andrea "Bob I" wrote: You have posted this twice, but neglected to provide the error message you received Andrea wrote: I have a file that is pulling information from several large files via vlookups and hlookups. What happens if you save it somewhere else.

It did save but I had to leave my computer it was taking so long. In your
experience, even if a file is relatively small (2MB), could the fact that the files it is pulling from are large in size with lots of formulas interfere with the save time? Sometimes the file will save, but I need to walk away, and other times it times out. I may try to rebuild from scratch although I tried that already. Ideas? -- Andrea "Bob I" wrote: What happens if you save it somewhere else. Sorry, only file that I have that has links of any quantity in are to
image files and that save is very quick. I was tending to point you in the direction of see if there was a destination issue. A coworker saved one of the linked files within the file I was having trouble
with. Even though the file got larger, the save time dropped significantly from 10-15 min to about 30 seconds. Thank you for your help! If you know why this happens I'd be interested in hearing about it but otherwise hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else. -- Andrea "Andrea" wrote: It did save but I had to leave my computer it was taking so long.
