Default Expand/Collapse Buttons for hidden rows or colums

After I hide 5 rows, how can I place a '+' button above the first hidden
row, which when clicked, would unhide the subsequent 5 rows ? The button
would then revert to '-' and perform the reverse function when clicked.

I remember seeing it on a worksheet once; if I know the above, I guess
it would work the same for columns.

- Many Thanks

In xl2003 menus:

Select the rows.
Data|Group and outline|group

And then:
Data|Group and outline|Settings
and uncheck "Summary rows below detail"

You can also get these outlining symbols by using Data|subtotal.

Hi Vineet

I think you might have seen a worksheet with subtotals on it.

This is from Excel Help: "When you insert automatic subtotals, Excel
outlines the list so that you can display and hide the detail rows for each
subtotal."

So far as I know, this only works for rows.
