Default my columns have changed to show numbers and formula are different

Working in excel i have found my colum values have changed from letters to
numbers and the formula i am calculating have changed

Ian,

It's because the first workbook you opened in the session was set to R1C1.

Tools|Options - General tab and un-check R1C1.

Tools Options General check R1C1 reference style
because your R1C1 have been unchecked.
