Default formula auditing problem

Sometimes when I use the trace precendents (or dependents) the blue dots
don't appear in the cells that are applicable and sometimes they do. I can do
this with multiple cells in the same tab and for some formulas it draws the
lines and the dots and for others it only shows the lines. I have to hunt for
the specific cells. The example I'm looking at now adds up 12 cells within
the same tab. As compared to most of my formulas, this is really simple. I
tried changing the view so that it's 120% thinking that maybe the dots just
were too small to see, but that didn't help.

Any ideas why this would happen for some cells and not all of them?

Thanks
