Default date to text

I have a date format 10/1/2008 and 10/2/2008 which i want to convert to just
October 2008 and drop the day date completely . can i extract just the month
and the year and display it in text.

Appreciate your help

Format Custom as "mmmm yyyy"
Or use the TEXT function:
=TEXT(A1,"mmmm yyyy")
