Default Office:Mac Excel

when entering a number in a cell, say 5, it appears as 0.05?
The number seems to dived by 100 for some reason.
I have tried formating cells, worksheets etc.. but cannot solve this problem?

can anyone help solve this weird problem?

If it is Office/Excel 2004 for Mac it would be under

excelpreferencesedit
