Default How to get an autoshape to have same format as its linked cell?

I have a farm map made up of autoshapes for the paddocks. Each 'paddock' is
linked back to a cell which has the year that paddock last fertilised. I
want the autoshape to reflect the colour format of the cell ie . red for
2009, will change to say blue for 2010 etc. I have the autoshape linked so
it displays the year, but I can't get it to turn it the right colour. Help
please.
