how do I sort data excluidng headings?
I have created a spreadsheet and freezed the headings so that I can scroll
down and keep the headings on top. Now I am trying to sort the data depending on what information I need (by name, by dollar amount, by state, etc) but when I do it the headings of the columns are also rearranged. How do I keep them on top and just sort out the data? If I just select the data and leave out the heading it will sort it but only by the data in the first colum. Thanks!! |

In the sort dialog box, there would be check box with something like 'My data
has headers'... If it is checked then sort will exclude the top row in the range selected. -- -------- If this is what you wanted then press the ''''YES'''' button (if you see it) "megido" wrote: I have created a spreadsheet and freezed the headings so that I can scroll down and keep the headings on top. Hi,
Here another solution: Format the header row. You could center the titles, or make them bold, underlined or italic. You could change the font color or the fill color or add a bottom border. Any formatting change to the header row will clue Excel in that you have a header. Then just do your sort, to need to tell Excel in the Sort dialog box about headers, it will know. This trick make the Ascending and Descending sort buttons more useful. -- If this helps, please click the Yes button.
