I am attempting to evaluate a text string (concatenation of an index/match
text string of an external file). The function results in the cell displaying
#REF!, but when clicking on the fx (function arguments dialog box), the
"Formula Result=" evaluates out correctly to the text string I was attempting
to lookup in the external file.

removing the "=" sign, changing cell formating to "General" and using All
caps doesn't work. nor does using the "indirect" function

Copying and pasting the restult of the concatenation (a text string) into
another cell and pressing return evaluates the string properly. and the eval
function evaluates the function properly but simply won't display it.
