Default Error msg on launch

When Excel is launched, error message appears"Object reference not set to an
instance of an object". This occurs regardless of the user logged in.
Office has been repaired, and reinstalled the error persists. Is there a
registry setting somewhere that needs to be manually changed?

Are you able to work after the message?

If yes, then press ALT-F11 to open VB Editor...

Do you seen any other workbook in the left pane? If yes, then you need to
find that file and delete it...

Go to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART for Excel 2007 and
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\XLSTART for Excel 2003

and move the files there somewhere else to test...

Also try to remove all Add-Ins and then load them one by one...

User can continue to work after the message. But there are no other
workbooks, and nothing in XLStart. There are no Add-ins loaded at all,
nothing else to disable.

Hi,

Since you've check for any other files open in the VBE and found none, try
disconnecting all Add-ins. In Excel choose Tools, Add-ins and uncheck all
the add-ins.

In the VB Editor, not only check to see if there are no other object listed
in the Project Explorer window but choose Tools, References and see if only
this are checked:
Visual Basic For Applications
Microsoft Excel xx.x Object Library (xx.x will depend on your version of
Excel)
OLE Automation
Microsoft Office xx.x Object Library

If any others are check, I would note them and then uncheck them. I might
also uncheck the last one above to test.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.
