I have long text in a merged cell but on few lines of text are displayed in
the cell. I have to copy the rest of the text in another cell. Is there certain character length restriction that doesn't display beyond certain number of characters? Thanks |

Excel 2003 and earlier help on specifications states you can have 32767
characters in a cell but by default only 1024 of these will be visible or printed. Add and Alt + Enter linefeed every 100 or so characters to get more. Note: several cells merged into one cell just results in a larger single cell with the same limitations. Hi,
the answer is version dependent: 2003 and earlier: Cells can contain 1024 characters in a formula Cells can contain 32,767 text characters but only the first 1023 will be visible (unless you use Alt Enter to force line breaks) 2007: Cells can contain 8192 characters in formulas Cells can contain 32,767 text characters in cells and all can be seen and printed without needing to use Alt Enter. -- If this helps, please click the Yes button Cheers, Shane Devenshire "UT" wrote: I have long text in a merged cell but on few lines of text are displayed in the cell.
