Default Blank line in word-wrapped cell

In Excel 2007:

I've observed that text entered into a cell formatted for word-wrap may
cause a blank line to appear below the text. This seems to happen when a
line of text terminates at the boundary of the cell.

My work-around is to make the column wider, autofit the row height of the
cell, then return the column to its previous width. There is no longer a
blank line. Go figure.
