Default Control Buttons frozen

Hi all,
I have a problem with one of my spreadsheets. It contains quite a few
control buttons that used to be working perfectly for nearly a year.
Suddenly, they froze - as if they turned onto a picture. When I enter design
mode and try to get the 'Properties' of any of them, i only get the
'Properties' of the sheet they are in .. As if they are no longer recognised
as buttons. The macros are all fine .. and the codes in the Visual Basic
Editor are all intact. It's just the buttons lost their identity! I'm using
Excel 2003. Any one knows how i can fix this problem? Or do i have to
recreate all this buttons from scratch?
Many thanks
Tendresse

It sounds like you'll have to replace those pictures with real buttons.

Is there any chance you saved the file as an xl95 file? xl97 was the first
version that used those controls from the control toolbox toolbar?

Any chance someone opened the file using a Mac? Macs don't use those controls,
either.

Well .. i had to recreate all the buttons from scratch. :(
I don't think anyone would have saved the file onto a different version or
opened it in a Mac computer. Our employees are very restricted on what they
can do with the files saved on the network. What happened to the buttons will
probably remain a mystery.
Thanks for your reply anyway. Much appreciated.
cheers
