File security Excel encryption
Hi everyone,
Like almost everybody, I copy data to USB drives, e-mail excel files to internal and external accounts on a regular basis. So I've been wondering what is the best way to provide some security. We've been advised to save Excel files and to use Encryption from the Advanced menu in the Save Options dialogue box. How secure is this? I've read many warnings on the internet (often at MVP sites) saying that Microsoft security isn't that strong and that if anyone really wanted to get into files that they would be able to. Does encryption this way make it any stronger? If Microsoft encryption isn't totally effective, what do people think of Truecrypt or is this just for removeable devices? Cheers Trish -- Trish |
