Default DELETING SUBTOTALS FROM A COLOMN

I have a column with about 7000 rows. Many of these rows are subtotals,
summing 2-10 rows each. I'd like to delete all the subtotal rows all at
once. I tried creating an outline, and selecting outline level one creates a
view of the subtotals, but selecting the subtotals and deleting from this
view just deletes all the hidden rows as well. There must be another way?

Thanks for ideas

After numbering a helper row (so you can put the sheet back in the order
it was in) sort on the column with "sum" in it and then delete the "sum"
rows. Then Sort on the helper column to put things back in order.
