Default Is there a way to view how a cell is currently formatted?

I am gettin the #VALUE! error in one of my formulas and one of the possble
reasons is that numbers may be formatted as text. The workbook I am working
in is protected so I cannot chang the formatting of the cells. I just need to
see if that is the problem so I can see what action needs to be taken.

You can see it from another workbook. Use a formula (in a second workbook)
like

=[Book1]Sheet1!$C$1

If that formula is in A1, use

=ISNUMBER(A1)

in another cell.

Numbers align right and text aligns left in worksheet cells.
If you have a number on the left side of a cell and the toolbar alignment
button is not activated then the number is probably being treated as text.
