Default How to paste grouped rows without copying over the detailed items?

I would like to copy & paste only the summary grouped line but not the
detailed information. If you select "Paste Special, Values" the grouped
items expand but I only want the summary line and not the detailed lines
below.

Is there a way to copy and paste only the grouped information and exclude
the details below?

Yes, this can be done very simply.
Highlight the cells you want to copy.

Edit/Go to or Ctrl + g
Special / check Visible cells only
Then copy
Paste special/values

hope this helps and that I understood you correctly
