Default corrupt xlsx file

I have an excel file (p..xlsx), which is password protected, and, when I try
to open it an error is being displayed: The file is corrupt and cannot be
opened.

Searching high and low on the Internet, there are utilities available but
they come at a cost and I have no guarantee that they will work anyway.

Any help would be appreciated.
