You forgot the equal sign
=1/5233 Or if you want text then put a single quote in front of the string '1/5233 "tazgirl1025" wrote: I am trying to type the following in a cell and I want the format as general, but when I type it in, it automatically changes to date format 1/5233 can anyone help |

Hi,
Excel is recognizing this as January 5233! You can preformat the cell to Number or Text to avoid this, but be careful if you choose Number Excel will divide 1 by 5233 and give you .0001910949.... If you choose TEXT then it will be displayed as 1/5233 If this helps, please click the Yes button Cheers, Shane Devenshire "tazgirl1025" wrote: I am trying to type the following in a cell and I want the format as general, but when I type it in, it automatically changes to date format 1/5233 can anyone help |
