Default Exel file opens in Wordpad

Hello,

I'm attempting to open an excel file that was sent to me via an email note.
When I click on it, file opens in Wordpad & it's all garbled. I have Office
2007 on my pc with Windows Vista Home basic operating system.

Thank you in advance.

1. copy the file from email to your desktop
2. verify the file has an appropriate extension, like .xls

Hello -- yes, the file does have an extension of .xls. I tried to 'save as'
Excel doc but would not let me do it - does not have this as a pick.

Thank you.

Default Exel file opens in Wordpad

Right-click on the file and "Open With"Choose Program

Select Excel and click the "Always use this program etc." option.
