Default Removing password protection from an Excel workbook

I am having trouble removing the password from an Excel workbook. i DO know
the password for both editing and reading and want to eliminate it. However,
I am having trouble doing this. I open the document, save as, select tools,
general options and clear out the password fields for both open and modify,
click ok (to close the dialog box) then click on save, but it does not save.
It doesn't do anything at that point. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Default Removing password protection from an Excel workbook

Hi,

Works for me, I get prompted to overwrite the earlier version when I hit the
Save button.

Is this file on a network? Is it a shared workbook? If the workbook is
shared you can't change, assign or remove the password. To handle that take
the workbook out of share mode and then unprotect it.

Cheers,

Shane -
Thanks for your response. I tried it again and it worked. Guess it was one
of those 'glitches' that required closing and restarting Excel. Glad it
really was that simple!
