Default xy coordinate graphing in excel

I'm trying to graph data, in a x,y coordinate system. All data is going to be
positive and I need help formatting it in office 2007. I put all my X's in
column a and my Y's in column b. i.e. a1: 430 b1: 0.289. If I would graph in
the x,y coordinate system it would be (x,y) so (430,0.289)

heman -

Arrange the data pairs as you have described: X in a column on the left and
Y on the right.
Select all data, e.g., A1:B10 for ten pairs.
Choose Insert | (Charts) Scatter | Scatter with only markers.

Or, don't select the data first. Select an empty cell. Choose Insert |
(Charts) Scatter | Scatter with only markers. Choose (Chart Tools) Design |
(Data) Select Data | Add ... etc.

Either way, with the chart selected, use the Format ribbon.

Hi,

When you do this Excel sets the X,Y origin as 0,0 if that is not what you
need then to change the X-axis right click it and choose Format Axis, on the
Axis Options tab click Fixed beside Minimum and enter a value to the right.

And just to illustrate some of the features of 2007, stay in the Format Axis
dialog box and click the Y-axis on the chart. You are now in the Format Axis
dialog box for the Y axis! You can set its Minimum or Maximum or whatever,
as needed.
