Default how to display the count of lines found by autofilter?

Using autofilter to filter rows in a range used to give a count of the number
of rows found in the bottom left hand of the screen. Now I have excel 2003
that very useful feature does not seem to be there. Is this a setting I have
not found? Is there anyway of getting it back?

It's still there, and it still disappears every once in a while.

Debra Dalgleish has some workarounds at:
