Default Formula Auditing Group Grayed Out

I purposed created an error in one of my formulas to test the Error Checking
feature. For some reason the group is grayed out except for Show Forumlas.
Is there an option to turn of the Formula Auditing?

I went into the Excel Options and noticed that the Workbook Calculations is
set to Manual. I tried to change it to Automatice but it keeps going back to
Manual.

I can I get the Error Checking to work and also change my options?

Thanks
