Default How to replace a repeated balance with a symbol

I have this formula in a cell G53: =SUM(G52,-E53,F53). It works fine.
However, it shows the same balance until I input a new entry on the empty
line. How can I hide ( replace ) the balance with a symbol like -
I am using MS Office 2007 Excel.
