Default I have Excel 2000 and can't open excel files that end in xlsx

I have Excel 2000. I am receiving email attachments that end in xlsx but I
can't open them. Do I need to update my computer?

If you want to edit the workbooks, then you'll need xl2007.

If you just want to view the workbooks, you can download the free compatibility
pack:

Please ignore the first part of my response. I was thinking of the excel
viewer.

The compatibility pack will allow you to edit the workbook.

Sorry.
