When I open a folder and select 'detail' view, the info. about date, time
etc, which is usually displayed alongside a file name does not appear. How can I rectify this? |

Do you see a scroll bar at the bottom?
Maybe you can use that to scroll right and left to see more information. If you can scroll, but those fields aren't shown, then rightclick on the header and add the fields you want.
